I have a Marshall MG10CD. It has a button on the front to switch between clean channel and overdrive. This is a solid state amp. There is no jack for a footswitch. I am wanting to know if someone could help me out with this. Tore apart amp and discovered that the switch is a DPDT switch. The switch looks like this:

1 1
2 2
3 3

The #2 Terminals are the common terminals and the switch either makes to the #1 terminals or the #3 terminals. I figured I could use a Stereo 1/4" jack and make the Ground Terminal on the jack the #2 terminal on the Switch and then use 1 each of the ring tips for #1 and #3 Terminals on switch. I am worried that if the switch is, for example, making #2 to #1 and the footswitch would be making #2 to #3 at the same time causing a possible meltdown in my amp?? I realize I could isolate this circuit by removing the switch, but I would like to keep it intact and usable. Any help would be appreciated and if I haven't been clear enough about this please let me know. Thanks In Advance
