Greetings -

I have a laptop that I would like to use with my DJ setup, but whenever I plug it in I get all kinds of nasty noise coming out of my speakers. Yesterday I was playing with it, and I managed to move the power supply into a position where it stopped making the noise, but then it would come back every once in a while and I had to move it around, whack it, or whatever until it stopped again somehow. I made sure the power cord was not crossing any audio cable, but it didn't really make a difference. I know it's the power supply because when I unplug the thing, the noise stops. My battery only lasts an hour and a half, so it won't work to use it without power.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how to stop this madness?

Thanks,

Shawn

I have the same problem with my roland drum sequencer. The problem is the power supply. My original power supply that came with the unit was fine until it got damage so it was replaced with an universal apdapter with selectable voltage and polarity. On using this I noticed a hum which was annoying and sometimes getting worse. Basically I had to use the apropriate power supply specified by the manufacters for the machine. I found a dealer who dealt specifically for this type of apdapter which meant a few phone calls but the problem was resolved. Whats your make of laptop? contact any computer shop and asked what power supplies are compatible with your laptop. It should not cost too much depending on your budget but it pays not to cut corners. I hope this may be of some help to you. Good luck! Nafe
