I'm a speaker with absolutely no technical background but a need to find a solution to an issue.

I currently have a Countryman E6 wireless mic that I use for speaking voice only which I run into a small mixer and then into the house sound for whatever venue I'm at.

I need to create a loudspeaker/intercom effect, such that when I speak it has that distinct scratchy, crappy sound so uniquely "high school intercom" or loudspeaker. I need to do this on the fly, that is, switch from my normal sound to the effect and back, fairly easily.

I'm trying to stay as low tech and simple as possible, and have absolutely no idea where to begin. What do I need to buy, plug in, modify, etc... to create this?

All your help is appreciated!

-Alex
