Well, I've got a mac, and I finally got into amateur home recording with it and thought it was great. I'm a keyboardist, and with practically unlimited tracks (and a synthesizer), you can turn yourself into an entire band.

Problem is, a vast majority of home recording artists are working with PCs, so much of the discussion on internet boards are talking about recording on PCs and all the gear related thereto. Also much of the software that turns your computer into a home studio is designed for the PC. There certainly are many software options for macs as well, but PC systems sort of dominate the market. I don't know if there are really any technical benefits of macs over PCs or vice versa, but just the fact that most people use PCs yields definite advantages to the PC based system in terms of peer support and other nontechnical, more subjective reasons. More important seems to be the question of soundcards, Ghz, RAM, and hard disk space.
